How our journey began

Dr. Sonya McCurdy is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist with over two decades of experience supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. She utilizes a client-centered approach informed by CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.

Her career began in child welfare, later transitioning to medical and behavioral health settings, where she discovered her passion for mental health treatment. This calling led her to establish Restoration Faith Based Counseling, Inc. in November 2020 after completing her Master of Divinity.

Dr. McCurdy holds dual Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Social Work, a Master of Social Work, a Master of Public Health, and a Doctorate in Ministry. Her doctoral research explored mental health in the African American church, inspiring workshops that bridge faith and mental health. She now shares her expertise through therapy, education, and faith-based mental health initiatives.
